HGen's Clean Hydrogen Activation

HGen

Hgen is an early stage company backed by Founder’s Fund, 776, and Breakthrough Energy. Their goal is to bring global emissions down 10% by producing clean hydrogen made from water and electricity to power industrial processes. Happily engaged with them to help them tell their story and create an inviting booth for attendees at 776 VC’s annual general meeting.

The Booth

776 VC invited around 8 companies in their portfolio to an exhibition at their 2025 annual general meeting in Chicago. Hgen wanted to tell a story of a mission in alignment with 776 in the spirit of American dynamism and reindustrialization by operating within the energy sector. Their focus was on changing industrial hydrogen, particularly in steel and glass manufacturing, by replacing natural gas with clean Hgen modules. Team Happily was tasked with coming up with a booth for the event.

There was a short runway of two days to prepare the booth. From the small space (had to be a 10 x 10 booth), executive attendees, to the World Fair theme, there were creative challenges. For the physical space constraints, Team Happily ideated upon a large lightbox with a map of the United States. The lightbox was designed for sustainable reuse and still sits in their offices today. A Set Designer placed miniature versions of the production units on the map to show the locations where they had existing manufacturers and customers.

Hgen also asked that every material be made in the USA, so materials were bought and then driven within Chicago. Other aspects of the booth included text along the side of the lightbox, museum-gallery style, that explained traditional versus HGen processes.

Team Happily’s Creative Director led design, set-up, and production.
