The Music Sustainability Alliance hosted the Music Sustainability Summit, a one-day conference dedicated to professionals in the live and recorded music industry to advance sustainability measures. Happily was brought in to conduct main stage setup as well additional camerawork and B-roll collection in order to livestream and record the entire event.
The Production Process
Happy led the camera set-up, production, and livestream of the Music Sustainability Summit 2026, an industry conference that addressed sustainability measures amongst music professionals.
Happily Embedded was brought in to conduct content production, and spent 2 days on site with local site visits prior. Although initially just to assist with post-production, Happily ended up overseeing production and post production. Happily filmed the entire event as well as conducted video editing and provided assets afterward. Happily installed 6 cameras in total, from the 3 cameras in the main stage multi camera set-up to 3 cameras in separate breakout rooms.
The main stage was operated by a team of Camera Operators and Assistants on the ground. For the other rooms, satellite cameras were able to film without human input. Every session was recorded with the video production team on site to pull the recordings onto a hard drive. A B-Roll Videographer followed CEO & Co-Founder of the Music Sustainability Alliance Amy Morrison as she made her way around the event, greeting speakers and attendees, and to capture comedian M.C. Esteban.
Most of the equipment was donated by members of the music industry.
The Results
The third annual Music Sustainability Summit attracted hundreds of leaders in the industry. This year, the MSA Bobby Weir Sustainability Awards were introduced and presented to Maggie Baird, REVERB, and Co-Op Live.
The Summit, in an atmosphere of warmth, insight, and depth, addressed industry-based changes needed from food panels, to travel-based carbon emissions, to after-event waste disposal.
Here are a few memorable moments from the event:
-Comedian M.C. Esteban Gast interviewed folks at the event, street-style, and was invited as a crowd-pleaser and hype-man halfway through the show. It was a hit.
-The VR Sound Experience room that included a nature-based soundscape, immersing groups of 2-3 in an experience away from the buzz of the conference. An all day interview room with speakers and notable attendees was conducted as well.
-Delicious, thoughtfully curated plant-based meals were the basis of the day.
