The Challenge

Supermajority Majority Leaders Spring 2022 Cohort Sizzle Reel GIF 1

Supermajority is a women’s equality organization that centers the lived experiences and liberation of all women. Today the Supermajority community across the US is 4 million strong.

It is a voting advocacy hub focused on protecting women’s rights and bringing women together as a political force. They use an expansive definition of women and fight alongside trans and cisgender women, gender nonbinary people, and anyone who has been marginalized due to their gender.

Supermajority Education Fund, a sister organization, was co-founded by trailblazing activists Cecile Richards, Ai-jen Poo, Alicia Garza, Deirdre Schifeling, Jess Morales Rocketto, and Katherine Grainger. It is dedicated to supporting a multiracial coalition of women who seek to become better advocates for themselves, for their families, and for their communities in line with Supermajority’s mission.

Their free Majority Leaders program empowers applicants and teaches them how to build political power driven by their values, and what practical steps they can take to invoke change in their local communities. The program consists of a weekly one-hour virtual teach-in across seven weeks.

Supermajority Education Fund partnered with Happily for a full-service virtual production of their Spring 2022 Majority Leaders program. Across seven weeks this included the weekly one-hour virtual broadcasts via Zoom, as well as a microsite that served as the program's hub and on-demand center for resources and on-demand recordings of all previous sessions.

Such a fantastic organization and training! Grateful to be part of this group to learn from activists who are making a difference.

The Solution

Supermajority Majority Leaders Spring 2022 Cohort Sizzle Reel 2

The Happily Broadcast, Creative and Web teams was activated for the Supermajority Education Fund’s Majority Leaders Spring 2022 Cohort.

Across the seven weeks, each session consisted of a Producer, Broadcast Streaming Engineer, Backstage Manager, Presentation Graphic Designer, Motion Graphics Designer, and a Breakout Production Assistant.

From the Happily Web Team, a Web Developer created a custom microsite to meet all the needs of the Majority Leaders program. This included embedded recordings and descriptions of all previous Zoom sessions. A live Twitter feed for participants to engage with the community through the program’s hashtag, #MajorityLeaders. The program workbook for participants to access and download, the PDF slides from each session, as well as a link to the program’s Slack channel.

Our next #MajorityLeaders meeting is tonight. 🥳 Being in a group filled with Badass women makes me smile. Wear your invisible crown proudly ladies. 👑👸🏽 Unstoppable!

The Results

Supermajority Majority Leaders Spring 2022 Cohort Sizzle Reel GIF 3

Supermajority Education Fund’s Majority Leaders Spring 2022 Cohort was an empowering and educational experience for all involved. The sessions provided the tools, knowledge and guidance that participants needed to continue to grow as political and community activists for equality.

Each of the sessions included a special guest and keynote speaker, with the program focused on each of the ‘Supermajority Rules’:

  • Welcome with keynote speaker Jess Morales Rocketto (Political Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance)
  • Rule #1: Our Lives Are Safe with keynote speaker Hope Giselle (national organizer, Diversity and Inclusion specialist and Trans Activist)
  • Rule #2: Our Bodies Are Respected with keynote speaker Cecile Richards (Past President of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America)
  • Rule #3 Our Work Is Valued with keynote speaker Katherine Grainger (Managing Partner at Civitas Public Affairs Group)
  • Rule #4 Our Families Are Supported with keynote speaker Ai-jen Poo (President of the National Domestic Workers Alliance.
  • Rule #5 Our Government Represents Us with keynote speaker Alicia Garza (Black Futures Lab, co-founder of the international Black Lives Matter movement)
  • Graduation with keynote speaker Jara Butler (Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee)

I cannot believe that tonight is graduation night for the #SuperMajority Leaders Program. It has gone by so very fast, but I am extremely grateful for our time together and all the knowledge and heartwork that was shared.
